The following two excerpts are from a larger paper I co-authored with my group at Roskilde University for our second-semester bachelor's project. The group and authors of the paper consisted of:
Michael Andersen, William John Brown, Esben Viinblad Jensen, Nick Lee Jerlung (that would be me) and Magnus Stilling Østergaard.
Since then, I've transferred to Aalborg University to study Medialogy, focusing on Game Design. Due to this change, I'm only sharing the parts I personally wrote: the survey design, data analysis in R, findings from the analysis, and the paper's conclusion in essay form.
We framed the paper through two contrasting perspectives: Marx's critique of capitalism in "Das Kapital" (Marx, 1971) on one end, and Marc Andreessen's “Techno-Optimist Manifesto” (Andreesen, 2023) on the other.
And I chose a more essayistic style for the conclusion to reward the intrepid readers who persevered through our 95-page report.
The original paper was written in Danish, and I've translated it into English—albeit somewhat hastily. While the cited appendices are not included in this document, all other references used in these excerpts can be found at the end in APA format.
A live summary of the ongoing survey can be accessed at the link below:
And a jupyter notebook with my data analysis in R can be found below:
We won't share all our data and analyses here. Instead, we'll present the most relevant findings to offer an overview of respondent distribution and highlight our most interesting discoveries.
